Stop doing this alone between appointments.
When pain won’t go away, most people are left trying to figure it out alone. There is a steadier way forward.
1 in 5 adults worldwide live with chronic pain.
Bigger Than Pain is a digital recovery platform that helps you understand pain, rebuild confidence, and restore movement — built by someone who understands it from both sides of the experience.
Move forward without it running the show.
For all body areas. Grounded in 150+ published studies. Shaped by people living with pain.
Full platform access opens Summer 2026.
Built on 16 years of clinical practice. A sample of 500+ clients rated their care over eight years more than 9 in 10 would actively recommend it.
You're not the only one who felt stuck.
Real feedback from people navigating persistent pain.
““For the first time, I felt like the whole picture finally made sense.”
““For the first time, something actually connected the dots for me.”
““After years of trying different treatments, this was the first time the whole picture made sense.”
““I finally felt listened to and validated instead of being given another one-size-fits-all solution.”
““I now understand my pain much more clearly — and what to do about it.”
““This gave me confidence in my body again instead of feeling like I just had to live with it.”
““For the first time in years, I felt hopeful about the path forward.”
You’re not broken.
It’s the system that is.
And it’s not your fault.
The healthcare system is built to treat injuries that heal quickly. Persistent pain requires something different — not more trial and error, but a structured path that connects what you learn with how you move, and adapts as you progress.
Low back pain is the single leading cause of disability globally. A 2025 European systematic review found chronic pain prevalence of 21.5% across 16 countries, with work disability affecting 11–49% of sufferers. Three of the top ten causes of years lived with disability are chronic pain conditions.
You’ve done the exercises.
Sat through the appointments.
Googled more than you’d like to admit.
And you’re still here.
Not because you haven’t tried hard enough.
Because nobody joined the dots for you.
Pain education in one place.
Movement somewhere else.
Conflicting opinions about what’s “really” going on.
It’s exhausting.
You’ve probably met well-meaning clinicians.
Got completely confused by the massive range of opinions about what’s causing your pain.
Listened to people who sounded confident — but you were never quite sure if it was right.
So you tried what made sense at the time.
And somehow ended up back at the drawing board.
Most approaches focus on pieces of the problem — exercises, explanations, techniques.
What they don’t give you is a coherent structure to connect everything.
And crucially, to personalise it to your life.
Something that supports you outside clinic walls.
That understands your patterns.
Adapts daily.
Evolves over time.
That’s the gap.
And that’s what Bigger Than Pain was built to solve.
This is how change actually happens.
Clarity
Pain becomes less distressing when it starts to make sense.
Bigger Than Pain helps you understand what's driving your pain replacing outdated, harmful perspectives with evidence-based explanations and practical tools.
Not blind optimism.
Not scientific jargon.
Clear, structured guidance that reduces fear and helps you build real evidence of safety and ability.
Your understanding deepens as your picture becomes clearer.
Progress
See what's actually changing over time not just how you feel today.
We extract and reflect your patterns back to you, highlighting what's improving, what supports you, and where your capacity is expanding.
So you're not relying on memory, guesswork, or “good days vs bad days.”
You can see your progress, clearly.
Small wins become visible and repeatable.
Freedom
A body you trust.
A life that feels open again.
The quiet confidence to handle what comes.
Chase after your kids.
Return to training.
Say yes without hesitation.
Pain no longer decides. You do.
Movements feel safe again.
From fragments to a system
Pain is complex. Your care should be connected.
Fragmented tools
Most pain tools focus on one piece.
Some help you track symptoms.
Some deliver exercise plans.
Others offer education or relaxation practices.
But pain isn't lived in pieces.
Bigger Than Pain was built as a coherent support system where everything connects, adapts, and evolves with you.
One coherent system
When everything feels noisy...
Wayfinder
From confusion to structured clarity.
When you're living with pain day on day, it's not just the symptoms that wear you down.
It's the noise.
Conflicting advice.
Second-guessing your last session.
Not knowing whether to rest, move, or reach for medication.
Not knowing what today should look like.
Wayfinder is where everything comes together.
It reduces chaos into calm, structured action.
It helps you clarify what's happening, track what's changing, and choose the right next step without overthinking it.
It also helps you do enough, without doing too much.
No boom-and-bust cycles.
No pushing through and paying for it tomorrow.
Just steady, adaptive guidance that adjusts to flare-ups, energy shifts, and real life.
Structured support that adapts to you, remembers your context, and keeps things steady.
Built around how you feel today not a generic template. You don't have to figure this out alone.
Under the hood, the app applies the Bigger Than Pain Systems Model the science of how pain recovery works.

When moving feels like a gamble
Move
Movement chosen for your body not pulled from a template.
Generic exercise programmes have one fatal flaw: they don't know what your body has been through or what it might be protecting.
That means you get the same plan they hand everyone else with that symptom. And if that flares you up, you're told to try harder and keep going.
Bigger Than Pain starts differently with a guided movement self-check as part of our apps onboarding & personalisation.
In your own time, you move through a short series of everyday movements and simply notice what feels comfortable, restricted, or uncertain.
No scores to pass.
No right or wrong.
Just honest information about where your body is today.
Your answers shape your Move Plan three or four carefully chosen movements, drawn from the clinical reasoning behind 16 years of practice.
Enough to create change.
Never enough to overwhelm.
As your comfort and ability grows, your plan evolves with you towards your goals.
Movement creates evidence of safety. This is where your body starts to believe it.
When stability matters most
Flare Support
Before we move forward, we run a quick safety check.
When things don't go to plan, we've got your back.
Guided regulation practices to calm your nervous system.
Flare-safe exercises for every body region selected by the clinician who built Bigger Than Pain.
Always available at the push of a button.
This is what most people don't have a plan when pain spikes.
In-app view
You shouldn't need to decode academic papers to understand your own body.
Vault
Removing the barrier between science and you.
Most people living with pain never see the research that guides their care. And even if they did, it isn't written to be easily understood or applied.
The Vault exists to change that.
Every explanation, tool, and recommendation inside Bigger Than Pain traces back to published evidence.
But we don't hand you studies.
We translate them into something practical, accessible, and usable.
Clear summaries.
Practical meaning.
What it actually implies for your day-to-day life.
Research you can trust.
Guidance you can use to rebuild confidence in your body.
The science has been there for years. What hasn't existed is a system that brings it together and makes it yours.
When you can't tell if anything is working
Recovery Directions
The longer you use it, the better it knows you.
Most apps are a library. You work through the content, the content runs out, and you're back on your own.
Bigger Than Pain works the other way around.
Every check-in, every movement session, every flare you navigate the system connects it all and reflects it back as Recovery Directions: clear, grounded observations about what's shifting for you.
What tends to come before your harder days.
What's supporting you more than you realised.
Where your capacity is quietly expanding.
Not guesswork. Not memory.
Your own patterns, made visible.
And when nothing needs to change? It tells you that too — because steady is a result worth seeing.
Most tools get less useful over time. This one compounds.
It's your recovery trajectory made visible the direction your system is travelling, week to week.
What we don't do
- We don't diagnose you or replace your clinician.
- We don't push you to ignore symptoms or "power through."
- We don't reduce complex chronic pain to a single approach and call it comprehensive.
- We don't sell, share, or monetise your data.
- Biggie is built with clinical safety rules — it will never tell you to ignore symptoms or push through warning signs.
- And it knows its lane: when something needs a real clinician, it will always point you toward your GP.
Every suggestion is evidence based - so support stays safe, grounded and responsible.
Trust isn't a feature. It's the foundation everything else is built on.
Your data stays yours
Your data is encrypted on your device and in transit. We never sell, share, or use it for anything other than your care.

David Mc Gettigan
Built by someone who's lived it and treated it.
I started living with chronic pain in my early teens.
It stayed with me into my mid-twenties.
Years of trying to make sense of it.
Years of appointments, explanations, and half-answers.
I later trained and spent the next 16 years working with people living with complex, persistent pain.
For part of that time, I was both clinician and patient.
I know what it feels like to sit in appointments trying to piece together conflicting advice.
To understand parts of the science but not know what to actually do with it.
To quietly worry about the future.
Bigger Than Pain wasn't built from theory.
It was shaped by thousands of client-facing hours in clinic and by my own experience of needing something more coherent.
Not a miracle.
Not a shortcut.
A structure.
Something steady.
Something grounded in evidence.
Something I genuinely wish had existed when I needed it most.

Common questions
No. Bigger Than Pain works alongside your healthcare team. It's designed to support you between appointments — not replace them. If you're not currently pursuing treatment, you can use Bigger Than Pain to support your ability to self-manage safely and confidently.
Persistent or chronic pain — back, neck, widespread, post-surgical, or pain that hasn't settled as expected. Bigger Than Pain covers all body areas extensively. If your pain has outlasted normal healing and you're tired of fragmented care, it's built for you.
Many people living with persistent pain already have imaging findings or diagnoses. Bigger Than Pain doesn't dismiss structure — it helps you understand how structure, sensitivity, and context interact in the pain experience. The skills, tools, and information inside the system apply directly to people with structurally influenced pain too.
No. Movement starts where you are. That might mean gentle breathing or small range movements on the couch. All exercises are designed to work across different levels of mobility, strength, and fitness. Progress builds at your pace.
No. The system is designed to reduce noise, not add to it. Wayfinder helps you focus on one clear next step — not ten different things at once. Your progression follows a structured pathway that adapts as you do.
Most apps offer a single solution and call it comprehensive. Bigger Than Pain connects the right tools to the parts of you that feel unheard, overwhelmed, or stuck — and adapts over time. It's not another app. It's a joined-up system.
Most approaches give you tools or static programmes. Bigger Than Pain gives you structure — and adapts that structure as your situation changes. It's the integration, not just the individual pieces, that makes the difference.
Good. You should be. Living with persistent pain teaches you not to trust quick fixes. Everything inside Bigger Than Pain is grounded in published research and evidence-based care. You can explore the Vault and check the sources yourself. Healthy scepticism is often the start of real progress.
“Everything inside Bigger Than Pain is grounded in published research and evidence-based care.”
